I starting putting origami dress embellishments on my cards about 2 years ago, and when I showed the cards to a friend, he suggested that I use them on invitations too. I like how the origami dress adds a little texture, visual interest, and handmade touch to the invitation. The receiver would know that it was handmade with love!
I went to Staples and bought a package of inkjet postcards to get the project started. Each perforated sheet of cardstock could be separated easily into 4 individual postcards (each postcard being 5.5 inches x 4.25 inches). This was the perfect size because I knew that each postcard would fit within a standard A2 envelope. I opened up a Word document and found the appropriate template (Avery 8387) and started typing up the event information, leaving space on the right for the origami dress embellishment. I have saved the template for future use so that I can easily modify the event information (font, font size, etc.)
After I printed the invitations, then I started folding the origami dresses, based on a model that I found online at Origami-club.com. I then cut colored cardstock and mounted the embellishment on the cardstock and added some mini rhinestones to give the invitation a girly and elegant feel. I also rounded the corners to give the invitation a softer touch. How cute, right? :)
